Belize Competition Project (BCP)

The BCP is an EU funded project implemented by the Directorate General for Foreign Trade with the overall objective of establishing a Competition Regime in Belize. The project began in February 2014 and closed by March 2017. Belize under Chapter 8 of the Revised Treaty of Chaguaramas, and Title IV Chapter 1, Article 125 -130 of the CARIFORUM-EU Economic Partnership Agreement has an obligation to establish a Competition Regime. The BCP on closure had a draft legislation developed, which is being examined by the legal drafter at the Solicitor General’s Office before it can be put to Cabinet for approval.
