WE’RE HIRING: Legal Consultant (LRR-FSA Project)
The Ministry of Blue Economy and Marine Conservation is looking for a qualified Individual Legal Consultant to help shape the future of Belize’s fisheries sector!


In this role, you will lead the legal and regulatory review to help align our domestic frameworks with the World Trade Organization (WTO) Agreement on Fisheries Subsidies.

Location: Belize City / Home-based (with in-country consultations)

Duration: Up to 9 Months / 75 working days

Deadline: Wednesday, October 7, 2026 @ 4:00 PM

What You’ll Do:

Conduct a baseline assessment of Belize’s fisheries subsidies framework

Build a fisheries subsidies inventory and legal gap matrix

Draft key legislative, regulatory, and administrative instruments

Support stakeholder consultations and validation workshops

What We’re Looking For:

Education: LL.B. or equivalent legal qualification (LL.M. or specialized training in trade/fisheries law is a plus!)

Experience: 5+ years of legal experience, including legislative drafting, legal gap analysis, or regulatory review

Skills:Strong knowledge of international law, trade, or fisheries governance; excellent drafting and research skills; fluent in English
